When senior hounds come into Rescue, we always know their chances of being adopted are slim.
Some healthy older (10 +) Hounds do find forever-homes… with special people willing to adopt them knowing their time with them may only be a few precious years. Slobberfest 2008 was a wonderful success!

Well known Mystery Author Tom Schreck signed his books and generously donated his proceeds
(over $600) to Droopy BHR. Kristen Hathaway won the bid to have her Bassets names "Blake and Sherlock" in Tom's next book. Tom promises to be back next year maybe he might give you another chance for your Bassets to be famous... www.tomschreck.com

We want to show you the special Rainbow Bridge memorial wall we had at Slobberfest 2008.

We are now creating a Rainbow Bridge page to memorialize our past pets who have crossed the rainbow bridge. If you would like to place your pet's name our Rainbow Bridge the cost is only $10. You can find the hearts in the Store and as you check out under "special instructions for the merchant" put the first and last name or names if you want more than one of your pet to be memorialized.

This is a beautiful way to remember a pet while helping our homeless hounds.

DROOPY is a Basset Hound rescue group dedicated to the welfare of Bassets

DROOPY is operated solely by volunteers who find homes for abandoned and relinquished Basset hounds.

We are a 501(c)3 non profit organization dependent on donations from wonderful people like you :)

Hounds are rescued from shelters, are strays whose owners cannot be found, and are those given up by owners who no longer want them or can’t care for them.
DROOPY works within a set of guidelines tailored to the needs of the community it serves and its operational resources.

Although Droopy Basset Hound Rescue of Western PA has successfully placed basset hounds out of the state of PA, we strongly encourage you to contact and apply through your local or closest basset hound rescue first. If applying to Droopy from out of state, we may refer you to a closer basset hound rescue to assist your requests.
